A little bit about us
The afternoon is yours to run. You would pick her up, drive her to activities, make her a snack and dinner, help with homework, and spend real time with her. Both parents work from home, so you will not be alone in the house, but we are working and she is your focus.
We are not looking for a housekeeper — we have someone for the cleaning. We are looking for someone our daughter genuinely enjoys being with, who runs her afternoon the same way every day so she knows what to expect.
The Schedule
Sunday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM (flexible but around these times)— 20 hours a week. Fridays and Saturdays are ours.
These days are firm. We need someone who can be here every one of those days.
Occasional extra hours, always with advance notice. Never a surprise, never last minute. Both parents work from home.
What You'll Do
Time with our daughter
Homework help, games, reading, walks, or just good conversation screens are a last resort, not the plan
Keep the afternoon routine steady so she knows what to expect
Get her ready for the evening so she is not scrambling at bedtime
Driving - Take our daughter to and from activities and practices
You will need your own car and a clean driving record
Her meals: An afternoon snack and dinner for her, following any food rules we share with you
Clean up after the two of you in the kitchen
This Role Is For You If:
You genuinely like kids and can hold a conversation with a 9-year-old, not just supervise her.
You are dependable. If you say 3:00, you are there at 3:00, and you tell us early when something changes.
You are a safe, confident driver who is calm about traffic and pickup lines.
You are comfortable making a simple dinner for a child.
You notice what needs doing, the homework folder, the permission slip, the backpack without being asked.
You are comfortable around dogs.

Week A: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 3:00 to 6:30 PM, plus occasional Saturdays with advance notice.
Week B: Monday and Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:30 PM.
No coverage is needed Wednesday or Thursday either week.
Pay is based on experience, with 12 guaranteed paid hours every week, even in lighter weeks, so your income stays steady. Occasional Saturday, holiday, or evening help is always scheduled in advance, and anything beyond 12 hours is paid at the same rate. Additional hours may be available during summer.
Responsibilities include school pickup at 3:10 PM, driving her home or to activities in the Valley, preparing after-school snacks and a light dinner, keeping her engaged with fun, age-appropriate play and outings, and light kid-related tasks like her laundry and tidying her room and play areas.
You'll need a safe, reliable vehicle with room for a booster seat, a valid CA driver's license, a clean driving record, great references, and the ability to pass a background check. CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
You'll have a consistent weekly schedule, just one child to care for, and a dad who values and respects your time. I work from home, so I'm nearby if needed, but you'll be fully in charge during your hours. I'm looking for someone long-term who is punctual, communicates well, and genuinely enjoys kids. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you!

What Are After-School Nanny Jobs?
After-school nanny jobs are part-time positions that cover weekday afternoons, usually from school pickup until early evening. They fit nannies who want a regular schedule, students, and people with other commitments in the morning.
Types of After-School Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities
Typical duties include school or bus-stop pickup, snacks, homework help, activities and lessons, and sometimes dinner. Some jobs include a few mornings or school holidays too. Check the school pickup time, the days per week, and whether driving is required.
How to Interview for After-School Nanny Jobs
Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:
- What time is school pickup, and which days do you need care?
- Will I drive, and is a car seat or vehicle provided?
- How do you handle early dismissals and school holidays?
- What are the children's activities and routines?
- Is dinner or light housekeeping part of the job?
Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
