A little bit about us
Here's how a typical afternoon would go: pick up our 2.5 year old son from preschool in downtown Portsmouth and walk 15 minutes to our home. After a snack break, you’d bring our preschooler to pick up his kindergarten brother from Little Harbor (a <10 walk) then play at our home, a playground, or the library until 5:30 pm.
We value playful engagement, warmth, and reliability, and would love someone who enjoys getting outside, reading stories, and fostering curiosity. The pay is competitive based on experience, and we offer a loving, fun, and supportive family environment.
If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to chat. Looking forward to connecting!

A little bit about us
My son age 10 is a very loving, friendly boy. He enjoys sports, nerf guns, building, arts & crafts, baking. He is full of energy so daily fresh air / exercise ( weather permitted ) is good for him and helps settle him down for the night. He does need some occasional help with homework. I encourage the sitters / nanny to do things , go places because I think it’s more fun for both. I don’t expect any household chores other than meal prep / cleanup and just keeping the house neat. In the past our Nannie’s / sitters have become like family to us which is something I’m most grateful for.

Typical duties include school or bus-stop pickup, snacks, homework help, activities and lessons, and sometimes dinner. Some jobs include a few mornings or school holidays too. Check the school pickup time, the days per week, and whether driving is required.
How to Interview for After-School Nanny Jobs
Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:
- What time is school pickup, and which days do you need care?
- Will I drive, and is a car seat or vehicle provided?
- How do you handle early dismissals and school holidays?
- What are the children's activities and routines?
- Is dinner or light housekeeping part of the job?
Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
