A little bit about us

I have a 2 year old girl, she is a ton of fun, very affectionate, loves being outside and playing all day. I also have a 2 month old boy who naps well and takes a bottle when needed. I am a stay at home mom/nurse and work a few hours a week from home. My husband will be deployed for 6 months starting in September so I am looking for someone to help a few hours a couple times a week so I can run errands without the kids and help keep them occupied while I cook. Ideally I'd like to be able to leave both kids for a few hours if needed, and have someone high energy to keep up with my toddler.

A little bit about us

Hi! I am looking for a very reliable in-home sitter that could watch my baby, Oakley (1 month), from Saturday–Wednesday for about 6 hours between 1:30pm and 7:30pm. She can be fussy at times because she likes to be held constantly. It is something I am working on getting her out of. She’s still young but she does like to watch a couple shows on Netflix for about 20 mins.
The hours would vary a bit depending on whether or not I have to work late or my schedule changes. Currently it’d be more like 1:30pm-6pm.
I do also have two dogs in the home. A medium sized dog and a large dog. They’d only need to be let outside and fed once in the 6 hour time frame.
This job will likely be until the end of October once my work outage ends. It could possibly extend past that if wanted as I may possibly pick up another job shortly after the one I’m currently on, but the hours/days may change!

What Are Short-Term Nanny Jobs?

Short-term nanny jobs are temporary positions with a set end date, such as covering a parental leave, a family move, a summer, or a gap between nannies. They suit nannies who like variety, are between jobs, or want to try a family before committing.

Types of Short-Term Nanny Jobs and Responsibilities

Short-term jobs can be full-time or part-time and last from a few weeks to several months. Responsibilities are the same as in an ongoing job, with an emphasis on getting up to speed quickly. Check the dates, the hours, and whether there is a chance of the role being extended.

How to Interview for Short-Term Nanny Jobs

Once you start connecting with prospective employers, the next step is a nanny job interview. Here are some questions you should ask:

  • What are the start and end dates, and could the job be extended?
  • Is the schedule full-time or part-time?
  • What is the reason for the temporary role?
  • How will I be paid, and is there a written agreement?
  • What routines and house rules should I know on day one?

Beyond asking these questions, families will want you to have your nanny references ready and ask any questions to show initiative. The nanny job interview is an excellent opportunity to get aligned on the nanny job expectations. By doing this, you can get off on the right foot with your future employer.
