I am an outdoor educator, where I teach children about the natural world through hands-on learning. I have also been a para professional, working one-on-one with a student with different learning needs.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Tag, hide and seek, bubbles, park time, make believe, baking/cooking, singing and anything else they desire! I also love going to a museum or zoo with kids, to show them cool things in real life!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Keeping the child safe! While having an enriching and fun time comes in a close second, keeping your child well and safe is always my number one priority. Learning about their needs, about your expectations, and the surrounding area is something I like to learn about, to have clear expectations and ideas of how to keep them out of harm's way.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked at summer camps specifically for children to young adults with special needs. I have been both a counselor and an activities specialist, trying to make all activities both fun and adaptable. I was also recently a paraeducator for a second-grade student with different cognitive needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nannying moments was when I took out bubbles and the child and I played for hours, just catching and blowing the bubbles. It was just joyous and sweet. It was a great way to experience nature and appreciate the little things.
