I was a camp counselor at Camp Tecumseh in Indiana for a summer where I was a live-in counselor for 10-15 ten year old girls.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I'm an artist. I actually started my own arts-based program in Knoxville, TN where kids came for art lessons and art healing activities. I love creating, painting, drawing, crafting, and anything else art-related! I also really enjoy taking walks and reading books. Playing games outside is always an easy go-to!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I'm a Type 2 on the enneagram which means I love helping! I think nurturing kids and helping them become all that they can be is the most important thing. A combination of guidelines, nurture, challenge, and fun make for an awesome relationship with kids.
My experience with special needs children...
I haven't had extensive experience in this area however I did have a student with Downs Syndrome attend art lessons that I personally offer and it was a delightful experience.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I LOVE watching kids interact with each other. I once was trying to help a 8 year old girl with multiplication tables. Her brother decided that he could explain it better and he really tried to do so...but he was making absolutely no sense! I let him try to explain for about 5 minutes and then I took over and decided I should step back in :-)
