Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Nature, parks, art, reading/writing, making up children’s stories, involving children on learning clean-up and meal prep in a safe and fun way. No screens or very limited, non-stimulating/addicting tv, making fun films or plays for parents, devotion, character building activities, volunteer work (making things to give to those in need), exercises using imagination and creativity, and personality based learning and development. Also, have helped children with dyslexia, autism and speech impediments— as I have a speech impediment and dyslexia and someone close to me has autism. Also, very passionate about healthy organic eating.
My experience with special needs children...
I was a nanny/mother’s help for 12 children— 4 adopted: 1 had Down syndrome, one little girl was nonverbal and blind and could not walk. And infant twins who had trauma, disassociation, and no-attachment due to their birth mother’s drug use and neglect. Additionally, one of my first jobs was in my teens at a free daycare which gave scholarships to single mother’s with children who had special needs, including ADHD, Autism, speech impediments, learning difficulties, and or abject poverty.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was actually a long period of time in which I was the nanny for 3 girls who struggled with ill temperament and fights among themselves, defiance, and disrespect to all adults. I took away television and added quality time talking about morals and doing devotionals, and watched them become the sweetest angels.
