I coach little league cheer for my church, and almost help out at my colleges daycare during the school year.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the safety of the children and daily needs are met. Help improve vocabulary and comprehension skills (if allowed). To not over-step the parents rules and regulations and keep a positive environment around the children at all times.

My experience with special needs children...

I have an older cousin, that I grew up with that has autism, who’ve had I had to care of recently. Special needs children are more complex than a regular child, meaning I would have to put a little more time into that child when it comes to education and playtime. My cousin and I practice calming down methods when he feels to overstimulated and overworked.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I had this one family who loved going out, the mom was always out shopping, and dad was either at work or on the golf court. At the time the kid I was watching never really seen my natural hair. So it’s maybe 2 days later after getting my hair done and the kid walks up to me and told me “you look like a fairytale” with the most gentle eyes and starts calling their parents to show them. They have moved away now but I still think about them a lot !
