More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I grew up in a large family and have always been very involved in caring for children. Along with helping care for my nieces and younger sister, I’ve also worked with large groups of children through YMCA after-school programs and summer camps. Through these experiences, I’ve learned how to manage different personalities, support children through emotional or behavioral challenges, and create fun, structured environments where kids feel safe and included. I enjoy building positive relationships with children and finding creative ways to support their individual needs and growth.

I believe in creating fun, enriching experiences that are both enjoyable and educational for the children I care for. I love engaging them in a variety of activities that stimulate creativity and learning, such as crafting, reading/creating stories, or exploring nature on walks. I also enjoy planning interactive games that promote teamwork, problem-solving, and physical activity, like scavenger hunts or outdoor sports. My goal for all activities is to help the children grow, whether that’s building their confidence, encouraging curiosity, or simply having fun while learning new skills.

The most important part of being a nanny is building a trusting, nurturing relationship with the children and their family. As a nanny, you’re not just responsible for care; you’re a role model and a source of stability, providing a safe, supportive environment where children feel valued, heard, and encouraged. It’s also crucial to be flexible, reliable, and communicative, ensuring that parents feel confident and at ease knowing their children are in good hands. Ultimately, creating a positive, engaging experience that fosters emotional, social, and intellectual growth is at the heart of being a great nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children with special needs, including children with autism and ADHD both through my work and within my own family. My niece has autism, which has helped me better understand the importance of patience, consistency, emotional support, and adapting to each child’s individual needs. Through working in YMCA after-school programs and summer camps, I’ve also learned how to support children with different learning styles, behaviors, and emotional challenges.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments working with children was when a child at my YMCA after-school program was having a really difficult day emotionally and specifically asked for me to help calm him down. He told staff that I was the person who made him feel the safest because I took the time to listen to him and understand how he was feeling instead of just reacting to the behavior. That moment really stayed with me because it reminded me how important patience, trust, and emotional support are when working with children.
