My experience with special needs children...
Growing up, I knew many children with special needs. I interacted with children at school and summer camp. Throughout high school, I participated in buddy programs and grew to become close with many of these amazing kids. As a nursing student at the University of Iowa, I declared a minor in disabilities studies in order to enhance my patient care abilities. I hope to learn and adapt to the needs of these children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It was my last day before leaving for college seeing an 11-year-old whom I'd first met at the age of 7. She had just moved into a new home which had a pool in the back. She told me to get my suit on, through a pair of goggles at me and giggled her way out the door. I changed and walked outside to find her head deep in the pool swimming like a mermaid. Over the years as I'd grown up, so had she, but there we were, two mermaids all over again.
