I work with the smaller children at my daycare (2mo-4yrs) and their games are the most fun for me, playing dress up or playing pretend with their toys, as well as the classics like tag and ring around the rosie (my preschoolers looooved this one) all have special place in my heart
The most important part about being a nanny...
You have to remember that kids can teach you things too. It's easy to lose patience and get caught up thinking that you're the adult, and you ARE the adult but kids are still people with their own thoughts and intuitions. You have to respect that and operate on the principle that they are here to teach you as well, not just you teaching them.
My experience with special needs children...
There were many autistic children at my daycare that I cared for. Outside of that, my experience with special needs is limited but I'm always ready to learn and accommodate for the differently abled :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was at a school play for my younger sister and the school that she goes to just so happens to be in the same neighborhood as my daycare. As I was walking in I recognized one of my students from the outfit she was wearing. I bent down and tapped her on the shoulder and the smile that was on her face was so big, she gave me a hug and turned around and said to her mom "that's my teacher Ms. Kiki!!". She sounded so excited to see me, it really showed me the impact that I have on my students.
