Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing crafts and hands on activities. I also enjoy playing outside. My favorite thing to do is what the child enjoys doing and adding my own spin onto it. Say a child likes blocks. We will play with blocks in a way we can learn something age appropriate.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing is that the children feel cared for and respected. This cannot pass the boundaries of breaking the rules or safety. But kids need to have atonomy and feel safe with who they are with. I will always do my absolute best to make a child feel loved and supported.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children on the spectrum and with anger issues. I have found there is not one thing I can tell you works best. I would have to meet the child and see what works for them. It is important to be patient. And I've found using close ended questions makes options easier for children with learning imparments.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment is when me and the child I was nannying for made lots of paintings for mother's day. He wanted to surprise her. He was so excited to hide them. When she got home I got to watch them both light up with so much joy. It made me so happy. We all are dinner together that night.
