More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
The last 1.5 years I was a registered behavior technician doing 1:1 child-led, play-based behavioral therapy in-clinic with autistic children aged 2-9 years old. Here I would help the children develop new skills and maintain/ strengthen existing ones, as well as record data and engage in standard childcare (feeding, changing, play, naptime, etc.) Before then, I spent a year as a nanny for a one-year-old girl and a mom who worked from home— here I had a blast playing with the baby, teaching her many new things, getting her ready for the day, feeding her, and celebrating milestone wins with her and mom. At the start of my professional career, I spent four years with Wee Care Corp as a HAB/ respite provider working in-home with autistic children and their families. Depending on the child, my workload could vary from standard childcare to working on personal goals/ teaching in addition to caretaking. Unprofessionally, I have ten years of babysitting and childcare experience from my youth
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Art (drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, collage), music (instruments, piano, dance, listening, singing), physical play (trampoline, tag, hide-and-seek, swimming, trips to the park, going on walks, roller skating), sensory play (bubbles, sensory/ fidget toys, swinging, spinning, water play, Moon Sand, Play-Doh), learning (books, puzzles, language, age-appropriate learning games, flashcards), games (video games, board games, Marble Run, creative games, sports games), creativity (fashion design, gardening, jewelry-making, sewing, baking)
The most important part about being a nanny...
Prioritizing a child’s safety, dignity, and autonomy!
My experience with special needs children...
I have over five years of professional experience with autistic children aged 1.5-9 years old, as well as ten years of personal experience (unprofessional) working with autistic children aged 0-10 years old. My professional experience is in behavioral therapy (ABA) and HAB & respite care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When we were listening to Baby Shark (her favorite song) on Alexa and the one-year-old girl I nannied for immediately climbed up on her diaper box like it was a stage and started going crazy dancing with all the energy and passion!
