Hi Y'all! I'm Lexi.
I'm 38 and have a teenager and an a 1 year old. I believe that it takes a village to raise a child! And it takes a GOOD village to keep kids safe, engaged and kind!
I have 11 years of teaching ages nb-21. In all sorts of settings- sped, behavioral, emotionally disturbed and gen ed. Non verbal are my specialty as I am fluent in ASL.
I am new to this site bc I am in my first years with my own little one and still nursing. I would love for my little and yours to be able to socialize and grow together! It may seem odd, but it's done all over the world and promotes sharing, caring, friendships, acceptance and increases learning curve! All while, of course, adhering to your house rules.
I can cook gluten free all the way to fast food. Whatever is your preference.
I am also ok with ALL animals!

My experience with special needs children...

As I stated in my profile, I was a sped teacher for 3 years u til the state asked me to join PBIS Services where I go into school with a set of coworkers and pull the kids having a harder time behaving. Taking them into our classroom (mixed grades) and we could have each student from 6 weeks to 6 months. But our goal was always to work ourselves out of a job by teaching both student and teacher how to better communicated the needs in a school and home setting. I did PBIS for 5 years. The last 3 years I worked In "last chance" schools. Keeping kids out of County.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Getting to be at events to support the child and video or record for the parents! Especially in California, it's too common to have to miss out in order to afford living expenses. This way the kid and parent wins!
