More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked in a childcare facility for military families. I started at 18 overseas in Europe for 3 years and moved to the states last summer where I continue to work in my passion with caring for children. I have planned daily activities, meals, field trips with children from all ages. I am CPR and first aid certified among with other professional trainings. Overall, I have 4.5 years experience with children ranging from infants to teenagers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love going on nature walks with the children, allowing them to observe and collect items (flowers, bugs, sticks, etc.) Arts and crafts has been one of my favorite hobbies to do with the children. I like to see what their creative minds are capable of. Fun Fridays were always held at our facility where we would hand out popcorn and candy while putting on a movie for the youth. Field trips were always so fun during the summer. I have been on many trips including waterparks, zoos, museums, theme parks, etc. It was always something I would look forward to. Sometimes it's the small things I enjoy doing with them whether it's learning a new recipe or simply enjoying the simple things in life.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny is so much more than just a job. It is an opportunity to teach and set an example for those to follow. Nannies play an important role in creating a safe and fun environment, that is what I strive to do. It allows time for the parents to continue with their daily routine stress free knowing their children are with someone they can trust and rely on.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with special needs children that include ADHD, Autism, Non-verbal, and down syndrome. It required a lot of one-on-one and redirection for some youth. I have had the pleasure of learning about their specific likes and habits. While also being mindful of their sensitivity to smell, sound, and touch.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments with the kids was a time in the classroom where I had multiple kindergardeners making art. It was very loud, messy and of course many of them needed help. I couldn't help but be stressed and a little frustrated. However, all of that went away when one of the young girls smiled and looked at me, saying "I like you." It was so sweet and it's almost as if the noise in the room was drowned out. I had realized that with my job I was making an impact. Despite how challenging it can be, the children enjoyed being around me despite the chaos in the room.
