Activities I enjoy doing with children...
In the past working in childcare, I’ve had the opportunity to create crafts and activities with the kids. Lots of sensory play and creative crafts I usually take from Pinterest or Instagram. I love being interactive, especially with hyper little ones. While maintaining safety and respect between me and the child. I love going on walks and to the park with the kids I watch. In the near future once I get a new car, I would love to take the kids I watch to zoos, fun centers(kidsville, space/science centers, farms). Free of charge, but I believe kids should be able to go outside and play, outside of the home. But as a college student I don’t have much time. The summers I take advantage of the nice weather days.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The connections you make with the children. It creates a space of vulnerability and trust with children, you become one of their safe places other than their parents. Watching them grow from being one age to another is enlightening because I watched them grow up.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve worked with kids at my centers who are on the spectrum; autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities. I am well versed to interact the same as any other child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I was watching one of my current clients children, during bedtime. One of the children goes, “I need a cooking video” and I was stunned being I’ve only watched watch them during the day. So I ended sitting on the floor while we watched Gordan Ramsey make stir-fry.
