More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I do have relevant experience outside of my 5 years of full-time professional nannying. However, I think sharing a little about my passion for nutrition and home health would be more helpful in getting to know me better. Having been an athlete and growing up with a little brother that was allergic to everything, I have a great respect for being aware of what we eat and what types of chemicals are used in a home. I'm not obsessive by any means. I just find that I feel better being mindful of products in the home and what I eat. When I cook for kids I take the same amount of care with ingredients and preparation. I also enjoy gardening and reading about nutrition.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
While my work starts with safety and health as foundational priorities I truly enjoy facilitating creative and sporty activities.
Reading story books, cooking projects, and creating crafts have been a large part of my current position. While outside the house I have spent a significant amount of time playing ball sports, taking the children to different after school classes, and going to playgrounds.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The physical and emotional safety of children is paramount - full stop.
It is a huge responsibility to take care of someone else's children and I never take it lightly.
That said, I can be fun and playful. I am also mindful that the mood in a home should feel warm and loving.

My experience with special needs children...
I do have experience working with children with specialized health, cognitive, and nutritional needs. As a result, I am very competent at following parental and medical instructions and maintaining predictable schedules for children. A few of the diagnoses I have familiarity with are low functioning autism, obsessive compulsive disorder, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, and dysphagia requiring a feeding tube.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have had so many tender and amazing moments over the years. In fact, gaining the trust of the 4 year old twin boys diagnosed with autism is to date one of my proudest accomplishments. But what stands out most recently has to be teaching the 3 girls I work with now about volleyball. The girls were aware that I had been on Poland's national team and wanted me to teach them. The thing is, learning to hit a big ball is not comfortable. I anticipated that they would want to give up after awhile. To my delight they were determined to keep trying. I believe in part this was because they trusted me in the process. And after a few sessions they were all able to enjoy playing much more! I would like to believe I was a small positive influence on their relationship to sports. But... I bet they remember making pierogies more - lol.
