Hi, my name is Alora Beckwith. I am 21 years old and I am looking for a position in childcare. I am an older sister to some amazing kids and the cousin of a few others. I have been watching these kids since I was 10, to help support my mom. In addition, I have been babysitting and nannying outside of my family since I was 15. I love watching children learn new things and the amazed looks little ones get from trees. I am passionate about helping develop a love of learning and a discovery of new things within children and feel that providing childcare would be the best way to do this.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a babysitter for 8 years, a nanny for 5, and have done volunteer work in my church daycare for 3 yrs. I have experience in the overnight care of infants and small children, and 4 yrs as a house keeper. I have worked in a daycare as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy swimming, water balloon fights, going to the park, playing chasing games, board games, reading to the children and teaching them to read, flashcards, and coloring.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part about being a nanny is supporting family, it's nurturing the curiosity of these small children who are seeing the world for the first time. Being a nanny is about fostering a deep love for learning and being the support system for a family. It takes a village and as a nanny I am there to be part of the village. I am one of these children's first teachers outside of their parents, and it is my job to nurture every little spark of joy and curiosity that these children experience. Because at the end of the day, my job is to help a family meet their goal of raising happy, healthy, well-rounded children.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with autistic children, diabetic children, dyslexic children, and ADHD children. I have limited experience with those who are hard of hearing, and general knowledge on children with vision impairments.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While every moment with children is precious, there are two distinct memories that stand out to me. The first one was when my three and a half year old little boy that I watch was two and they had to replace their fire alarm in the house. Every day for 4 months, every alarm sound resulted in him asking "Wowa, that house on fire?" Followed very quickly by the phrase "my house on fire too!" It didn't matter if it was a cooking alarm if it was a phone alarm every alarm meant something was on fire. The funniest part was that his house was never on fire his fire alarm just had low batteries. The second memory was when a family I watch was trying to load up their kids and their oldest, 3, was telling them that they could take all of her bubbies but she wanted to stay. The reason, she wanted to go to the park near my house, so she figured if she stayed with me longer we could go to the park. I told her that the next time she came over we would go to the park, and we did, all five of us.
