I love going to parks, going on walks, making lunch, playing and pretending, watching movies, making snacks and treats, and letting children teach me new ways to imagine!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite part, though also the saddest part, is getting to know and love the kids as they get older. My most recent family was a family with a newborn and I cared for the children through age 3.5, making it so hard to leave. Loving the kids like they are my own family makes it so hard to say goodbye but so easy to have lots of fun!
My experience with special needs children...
I have a 10 year old autistic sister and have some experience with other autistic children. I also have nannied for a family with a nonverbal child and have assisted with many families with foster children, all coming from different backgrounds with different needs. I understand the patience and carefulness necessary in these situations.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment with children I have cared for was watching a nonverbal boy improve on his communication skills. Praising him and watching him celebrate was so rewarding for both of us!
