The most important part of being a nanny is giving the kids someone they can trust and feel comfortable around. One of the struggles with having a nanny is every party involved is scared about meeting new people and wondering if it will work. I like to take time with the kids and form a bond with them and help them feel comfortable with having someone new in their lives.

One of my favorite nanny moments was helping a 6 year old child learn how to tell time. She was nervous at first when her parents would leave home and so I would tell her when they would come home and from there I taught her how to tell time so that she knew how much longer it would be. Finally after a month she stopped looking at the time and was comfortable with being more independent and she also learned how to tell time at 6 years old.
