More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
-Registered Behavior Technician: Worked one-on-one in-home as well as in classroom settings with children aged 5-12, implementing learning goal and behavior plans through natural environment teaching as well as dedicated table work/lessons. Learning goals included pre-school core concepts such as colors, letters, numbers, fine and gross motor, and social skills, and further goals of writing, reading comprehension, initiating school work, and more.
-Toddler room assistant teacher: worked with lead teacher to assist children with mealtimes, free play, structured activities, outside play, and more. Students included those with special needs including speech delays and ASD.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
-Crafts! I love themed crafts for the seasons/holidays, crafts related to learning goals, and crafts where the child is able to be creative and independent. Examples include multimedia collages with a letter or color theme, sensory projects such as fingerprinting, bubble art, and sand art, and recycle sculptures such as paper towel roll and soda bottle projects!
-Playing interactive games and activities such as board games, playground games (red light/green light, sandman, floor is lava), simple “cooking” activities, etc
-reading! I believe in starting a love for reading early and making the experience of reading books interactive. Asking questions throughout, having learning readers follow along and echo-read, and animated out-loud reading!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe nannying is a privileged position, one that parents have to put incredible trust into, and I believe the most important thing a nanny can do is uphold that trust above all. In addition I personally believe in learning through play and stimulating activities, encouraging creativity, and emphasizing reading and exploration.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children aged 2-12 with varying levels of ASD. I have worked as a RBT (registered behavior technician) in home and in classroom settings, implementing behavior plans and learning goals. I have also worked as a special education preschool assistant teacher, working with pre-school aged children, assisting with implementing behavior plans, mealtimes, free play, structure activities, and more.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments nannying was when my kiddos (3 and 6) dressed up and put on children makeup (with supervision of course) and the 6year old showed her little sister how to do the choreography to “shake it off” she had learned at camp. They put on a show once mom came home and they brought down the house!
A lot of my favorite moments working as an RBT involve mastering a new skill. One of them was when my client (5) was working on asking others questions independently in order to more effectively hold a conversation. I was fading prompts as he mastered each step: parroting my words, asking him “I wonder what x person thinks?”, and finally as I was playing with him he turns around and says, “ms Amanda? Do you like strawberries?” And I was floored! A few minutes later I asked what ice cream was his favorite and after answering he asks “what is your favorite flavor?”. Overjoyed for progress!

I am a very quirky and energetic lass. I love to sing, do activities and crafts projects, play games and be silly!
I am also a diligent cleaner with knowledge on how to cook.
I treat all children as if they were my little siblings and with tender care!
I would happily follow and schedule no matter how strict and invest time into making sure your child is well taken care.
I will plan educational projects, read books, tutor in necessary subjects, and so on.
I am CPR/First Aid/AED Certified.
I also have behavioural training.
I have worked for two years in a preschool and learned how to follow protocols for disabled children, children with allergies, and diabetes.
I have worked in home of a child with his own quirks, helping tutor him, work on his social skills, and do cute projects together.
I am not picky!!
