Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was able to volunteer at a preschool my mother was a teacher in. I had an amazing time with each of those lovely little dudes and dudettes, I got to help with nap-time, cleanup time, and on their very last day I was able to keep everyone entertained with a water party outside!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy helping children to draw or make small sweets like oatmeal cookies, since they can get their hands a little dirty for that good sensory play. Painting, drawing, water-beads(which can be replaced with tapioca pearls to make it taste safe!), reading, I can do a lot with the kids! It’s also fun to see what they come up with when left to their imagination.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe it’s important to make yourself a safe person for the child or children you’re nannying. If you’re cold with them, they won’t enjoy your presence or want to do any sort of engaging activity with you. So it’s the most important thing to me to be warm and kind with any child you care for.
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have much actual experience, but I can proudly say that I have always been comfortable and willing to care for and play with children on the spectrum. I’ve always been able to find ways to entertain a child on the spectrum in ways that they can truly enjoy without worrying about sensory issues.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think my favorite moment tending to a child was I was volunteering for a preschool and was cleaning up after their end of the school year water party. A little girl came up, waiting for her father, and asked me to play with her while she waited.
It was so nice to see she enjoyed being around me, even though I was new in the classroom and had only met her two times prior.
