More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
When I was in college I was a counselor at the YMCA and primarily worked with special needs children in the group. I taught in San Marcos at the Hispanic cultural center as a volunteer art teacher and at the elementary school. I have hosted scholastic vase competition workshops teaching students different methods of artistic discovery and application, as well as home childcare for various relatives and friends.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I think kinetic learning is one of the most important modes of learning out their for early childhood development- so anything tactile that is enriching to the mind, body, and soul! Whether that is creating art, learning a new game, interactive television (I try to limit this but we are in the 21st century lol) and above all- getting outside and soaking up the sun
The most important part about being a nanny...
Ensuring the children’s safety is paramount. Then meeting parent expectations and meeting the children where they are. There isn’t a blanket solution for learning and interacting- making an individualized approach and experience for the child is the key to unlocking their true potential.
My experience with special needs children...
Students in classrooms who exhibited varying degrees of autism, Down syndrome, or learning disabilities are a case by case basis. For some it’s a simple matter of knowing when to engage or leave them be. An anecdote I have was creating an individualized approach for socialization of boy with Autism . He wanted so badly to interact with the other children but did not know how, which manifest in misbehavior and outbursts. I tried various things like coloring, games, books- none worked. Until one day I noticed him playing with a ball and I asked some the other children to toss the ball to him, just to see if he would respond. And he loved it! He became part of the group through passing a rubber ball back and forth. It was really huge and I was so happy for him. I think it’s so remarkable how some of the most complex questions have the simplest answers.

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Houston, TX: MarReonna L.
Hi! I’m 19, almost 20, and I’ve always loved working with children. I was the designated babysitter in my family growing up, and kids naturally connect with me. I also worked at a very successful in-home daycare, where I gained hands-on experience caring for children in a fun and safe environment. I’m currently a college student-athlete pursuing my bachelor’s degree in psychology, which has helped me better understand child development and communication. I’m responsible, energetic, and truly enjoy helping kids learn and feel comfortable.
