I have 28 yrs of experience with kids of all ages. I am trained in ABA therapy, which is helping kids with autism learn new skills, social skills, and turning bad behaviors into good, also good for neurotypical kids too. I am in school for social work. I am also CPR/1st aid certified and BLS certification. I also can go grocery shopping, run errands, and check on pets. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started babysitting at the age of 10. I worked at a Boys and Girls Club when I was 18. Also was part of Big Brother Big Sister at 18. I have worked in daycares, elementary school, and middle school. I have worked with kids with autism and neurotypical kids. Worked with children with behaviors of all kinds. I have been working in ABA therapy, which is working with kids with autism for fours years while in school for education, social work and sociology. I have been a nanny for a few families over the years and I still babysit on the side.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going outdoors to play. Playing board games. Arts and crafts. Going to park or pool. Playing make believe and using our imaginations. Watching movies. Whatever the kid is into I try to learn and get into too.

What matters to me is that I treat the kids as if they were my own and that I feel part of the family.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with special needs kids for close to 20 years. I started as the assistant director at a Boys and Girls Club in charge of the sped kids. I working in an elementary school as a teachers assistant in sped kids skills and communication. I was a behavior therapist at a middle school in the sped social skills classroom. I have been in ABA therapy for close to 4 years now working with all kinds of kids with ASD, OCD, ADHD, anxiety and PTSD. I have worked with verbal and non-verbal kids. Also have experience with children with behaviors such as non- aggressive and aggressive behaviors.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My funny nanny moment is when I worked for a family that had two sweet little girls, one was close to 3 and the other one was close to being 2. Getting to see the youngest one learn to stand up and then walk was so heart warming and glad I was there to witness her first steps.
