A little bit about me

My name is amber and I relocated to Austin from Niagara Falls, NY a few years ago! I worked with developmentally disabled children and adults for 13 years in their homes and consider it my passion. I excel at creative problem solving and teaching life skills with/without adaptive solutions, and sensory play. I love spending time outsides when the weather is fitting, and promoting independence and healthy life habits.

I worked as a direct care staff for children with developmental disabilities for five years. Overlapped with care in a mild-moderate ID group home setting for adults for 4 years, and 5 years supervising various group homes with a range of developmental disabilities and levels. All included moderate-severe behavioral challenges and dual diagnoses, as some aging populations and dementia/Alzheimer's ***trained in CPR and first aid, but no current certification
