Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Most recently I was the head instructor for the Junior camp at SFU summer camps; this meant I handled the lessons and teaching for the 4-6 year olds, among other responsibilities. Prior to moving to Vancouver, I worked with a few different families (about a year each) as a part or full time nanny for boys that ranges between 2 and 7 of age. In addition, I have spent many summers working in overnight and day camps, in summer lunch programs, and as a babysitter; all of this accumulates to over twelve years of experience working with kids of all ages.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For indoor activities, I love board games, baking, doing art and science projects. For outdoor activities, I'm a big fan of kid-friendly hikes, heading to playgrounds, exploring local museums, and regular library visits.

I think open communication, both with the parents and the kiddos, is the most important part of any job, especially this one. I firmly believe in maintaining open communication, so you'll never have to worry what might be happening during the day.

One of my favorite moments was leaving my last job, when I realize my nanny kid had filled out an All-About-My-Nanny sheet, similar to the kind of thing he'd done in preschool for his mom or dad. I was touched at how much he'd remembered, and how much fun he'd had working with me over our year together. I also love developing little routines with each kid; playgrounds after school, Ikea visits, library story time, etc., are all moments I hold dear.
