More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Although I am not a licensed teacher, nurse, or therapist, I have extensive practical experience with children. I was a professional volleyball player in Brazil for 23 years and used that experience to teach volleyball and coordination skills to a nine-year-old autistic boy for one year. In 2023, I volunteered three to four times a week for six months, helping friends care for their six-year-old daughter with Level 3 autism. I am also the mother of an adult son and have 12 nieces and nephews. For nine years, I regularly helped care for a friend’s twins from infancy whenever their family visited Brazil or their mother traveled. More recently, I worked as a nanny for two girls, ages one and three. These experiences strengthened my ability to care for children with patience, responsibility, creativity, structure, and genuine love.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy reading books, building with LEGO, doing arts and crafts, playing educational and cognitive games, and encouraging imaginative play. If the family shares the Christian faith, I would also be happy to read children’s Bible stories and do faith-based activities. Outdoors, I enjoy taking children to playgrounds, going for walks, and participating in age-appropriate sports and activity classes. I was a professional volleyball player in Brazil for 23 years, so I would also love to introduce children to volleyball and help them develop coordination, confidence, and teamwork all while having fun!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where each child feels valued, protected, and encouraged to grow. Caring for children is more than a job to me—it is a calling and a gift from God. I am the mother of a 30-year-old son and have 12 nieces and nephews. I also helped care for a friend’s twins from infancy for nine years whenever their family visited Brazil, often welcoming them into my home or caring for them while their mother traveled. I have loved children for as long as I can remember. I give them my attention, patience, affection, and genuine commitment while always respecting their parents’ values, routines, and wishes. Earning a family’s trust and making a positive difference in a child’s life are what matter most to me.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience supporting two autistic children. From 2007 to 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, I taught volleyball to a nine-year-old boy with developmental delays. Through running, catching, throwing, ball-control, and concentration exercises, he greatly improved his coordination, focus, confidence, and ability to follow directions. I regularly updated his family.
In 2023, I helped friends in California care for their six-year-old daughter with Level 3 autism three to four times weekly for six months. We enjoyed walks, playgrounds, puzzles, music, movement, communication, and coordination activities. When overwhelmed, I calmly helped her feel safe. These experiences taught me patience, consistency, flexibility, and respect for each child’s unique needs. I offer practical experience, compassion, and responsibility, and I follow the family’s routines and professional guidance.

I am a multi certified early childhood teacher, having worked primarily with Spanish, where I have advanced skills. I am CPR certified, have worked with trauma kids and specialize in SEL and mindfulness, and have training in phonics, reading, and I fully believe in art, expressing ourselves, and art as healing therapy. I also love reading - books are so important. I have 2 children of my own, 17 and almost 20, have been a single mom most of their lives and spent most of my teaching career with 4-5 year olds. I LOVE kids - they are my favorite humans. I volunteer for Union Bands as the photographer, a role I'm in my 3rd and final year as (I have a senior!), and I love supporting the high schoolers and being on the field with them every week. Former GS Troop Leader and starter, Den Mom, BS mom, and PTA President. I truly love children, believe they are our future, and believe in play, reading books, and listening - because children are magic. Also have a therapy poodle if ever needed!
