Hi there! I'm Aneka! I am in my fourth year at the University of Maine, where I am studying Environmental Science with a concentration on sustainability, environmental policy, and resource management, along with a minor in economics.
I love to go for walks and hikes, spend time with friends and family and enjoy the outdoors! I know the island well and love to explore beaches, local shops and farms! I enjoy the farmers markets and Chilmark Flea in the summer. My favorite beach is East Beach on Chappy!

This upcoming summer will be my fourth living on the island full-time! For the past two summers, I’ve had the pleasure of working as a camp counselor at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, leading nature day camps. I've worked with ages from 4 to 13 years old.
After spending the past two summers working with kids, I’ve decided to take a more personal approach and transition into nannying. I’ve found that one-on-one time with children is incredibly rewarding and allows me to build a deeper connection with them. I’m CPR and lifeguard certified, and I’d love the opportunity to share my love for nature with your children—whether it’s exploring the island, doing arts and crafts, teaching about wildlife, or enjoying beach days. I’m open to all kinds of activities and would be thrilled to spend time with your kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have a variety of activities I enjoy doing with children, including arts and crafts, reading books, and playing both indoor and outdoor games. I’m also passionate about music—growing up, I was involved in theater and show choir, so if your child has an interest in that, I’d be excited to share that with them! Additionally, I played sports year-round, including volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse, and I’d love to incorporate that energy into activities as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that the most important aspect of childcare is building a strong connection and understanding with the child. From my experience, being gentle and kind with a child is incredibly effective, especially in moments of sadness, frustration, or heightened emotions. During my time at camp, I worked with children of all different personalities and handled various behaviors. I’ve learned that making sure a child feels seen, heard, and understood is essential to their emotional and developmental growth.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments in childcare is when a child actively seeks your company, feeling safe and excited to be with you. A particularly memorable experience was at the end of my first summer at Felix Neck, when one of my campers cried as she was leaving. She was hugging onto me and would not let go. It was such a rewarding feeling to know I had made her feel valued and secure. That moment, and that camper, will always stay with me.
