A little bit about me

Caregiving for more than 20 years; 11 years as a nanny for multiple children at a time. Most of that has been spent with long-term families, including two 5-year placements&a unique pandemic era position.
Philosophy:
- Childhood is shaped not only by major milestones, but everyday moments: learning new skills, working thru challenges, exploring interests&building confidence thru secure attachment
-Versed in child development, emotional health&self regulation&using those insights thru observation, experience&personal growth.
-I don't primarily define success by academic achievement, developmental milestones, or perfect behavior. I care about those things, but return to a simpler measure of success: children feeling capable, seen&understood.
My approach combines: Structure&routines•Patience&security•Curiosity&independence•Creativity&self-expression

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

It all started in highschool 20+ years ago- caring for kids with special needs as an extra curricular.

I worked the occasional short term babysitting or nanny gig around this time fir friends ans neighbors, or helping my mom out with Sunday School or Bridgeview school for disabled kids.

Then I obtained positions as a personal care assistant, direct support professional, home health aide, and hospice assistant.

My background there is individuals with behavioral challenges, physical limitations, intellectual disabilities, and/or the elderly and dying. I worked mostly in group homes, a day training and rehabilitation center, and hospice.

Then the last 11 years Ive been a private long term nanny with specialties in newborn to school age in personal residences.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

-Plan engaging age appropriate tactile/sensory/brain/educational activites, -Coloring, cards, games
-Creative pursuits with all sorts of crafts and imaginative play
-Outdoor activities that encourage movement, curiosity, and independence
-Planning outings to parks, learn&play libraries, rec centers, tot times, storytimes, the zoo, pets stores, toy stores, places with memberships (museums, indoor parks, community centers etc) etc
-Taking kids to any extra curriculars (music class, swimming lessons, sports)
-Incorporating clean up and cooking as guided daily life lessons and play
Etc

The most important part about being a nanny...

Philosophy:
I believe childhood is shaped not only by major milestones, but by the everyday moments- learning new skills, working through challenges, exploring interests, and building confidence through secure attachment.
I've spent years learning about child development, emotional health, and self-regulation- incorporating those insights into the caregiver I've become through observation, experience, and personal growth.
I don't primarily define success by academic achievement, developmental milestones, or perfect behavior. While I care about those things, I ultimately return to a simpler measure of success: children feeling capable, seen, and understood.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a decades worth of experience working with special needs kids, teens, and adults.

The most important part about being a nanny...

-Watching the developmental milestones bloom and blossom.

-Being invited to family events like kiddo birthdays

-Hanging up art from kiddos on my fridge, or keeping crafts/gifts they give to me

-Honorable mention for my OG nanny kids 10 years ago writing her Special Person Essay about me, 3 years after leaving that family.

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Twin Cities, MN: Elizabeth E.

I have been a nanny but 8ts been 24 years. I took time off to raise kids of my own. I'm now an empty nester and mis being around little kids. I and kind and respectful in all situations. I am a curious person and encourage those around me to be the same. I am a positive person and chose to have a good mood always. I'm human so it's not a perfect record but 98% successful i think. I like art so drawing/ painting and pottery will be on the list of activities we will do. I like to puzzle and I do not watch TV. I will allow it but can typically find more interesting activities to fill time. I read and love walks. I all in all healthy. I relarely get ill. I'm a great organizer and like cleaning as it fills my need for instant gratification. Not a fan of laundry but will do it.
