A little bit about me

I’m an experienced nanny and the oldest of four, with more than a decade of hands‑on childcare under my belt. I’ve cared for children of all ages, from infants to preteens, and even managed a household for three months while the parent was abroad. I’m CPR and First Aid certified, passionate about helping kids learn and grow, and excited to support a family that values kindness, creativity, and consistency. I love creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for every child I work with.

I’m also very comfortable around animals — my family has chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats — so pets are never a problem and always a bonus.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I also have experience working with kids through community volunteering. I helped with Five Cities Basketball doing scorekeeping and supporting the team, and I volunteered with the Girl Scouts assisting with activities and group coordination.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing creative, hands‑on activities with children, especially anything involving art. I’ve even taught kids practical skills like how to pitch a tent. I’m big on keeping them active, spending time outdoors, and limiting screen time so they can stay engaged and curious.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is building trust and creating a safe, consistent environment where kids feel supported. When they know they can rely on you, everything else—learning, routines, fun, and growth—falls into place.

My experience with special needs children...

I also have personal experience supporting a child with special needs. I grew up with a cousin who has Asperger’s, and I often acted as his aid during school activities and outings. I helped him navigate social situations, stay comfortable, and manage transitions, which taught me patience, awareness, and how to support kids who need a little extra guidance.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when the kids’ dad told me that every night, during their prayers, they always include my name—even when I’m not there. It meant a lot because it showed the bond we’ve built. I really do feel like part of their family, and watching them grow up has been one of the best parts of the job.

Sage O. - Seeking Work in San Diego

Babysitter Available in San Diego, CA: Sage O.

Hi! My name is Allyssa Sage Owens, but I go by my middle name, Sage. I am 19 years old and in school pursuing a nursing degree! I am taking summer classes but also want a job, preferably working with kids, so I am not so caught up in just school! A little bit about me: I am a caring, responsible, and dependable person who genuinely loves being around kids and helping them feel safe, happy, and supported. I am patient and calm in those stressful moments, and I do my best to create a positive environment where children can feel understood and encouraged. I’m someone who takes my responsibilities seriously, but I also lead with kindness and heart in everything I do. Having experience helping care for others in my life, I’ve learned how important it is to be attentive, trustworthy, and consistent. I would treat any child I care for with the same level of love, patience, and respect that I would want for my own family!
