Growing up with a big family and extended family I have been around all sorts of ages my whole life, caring and loving well. I volunteer every summer at VBS and am a 3rd-4th grade leader. It is one of my favorite things! In High School I also served at Cameron's House Of Hope every Thursday, tutoring kids who had trauma or hard home environments.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Growing up with three younger brothers on a mini farm, I am always up for an adventure. When babysitting kiddos I strive for a no screen environment-- entertaining with board games, outside activities, baking (if okay with parents), arts and crafts, reading books, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My goal is not just to supervise but to encourage, engage, and invest in them while making sure we have lots of fun along the way! I want to make a space where the parents are confident and comfortable there children are being taken care of, well.
My experience with special needs children...
I am currently in school for Special Education! I start my field work in the next few weeks and I am really looking forward to it. It is something I am passionate about and comfortable helping a family that may have a child who has special needs. In High School I babysat for a family who had a child with a brain tumor. He needed some extra help and guidance with things throughout the day that I would assist with.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when the mama of the kids a babysat for got re-married and I was hired to take care of the children at the wedding. It was so much fun. I had my "go-bag" which consisted of smarties, soft balls, quiet fidget toys, snacks, and books. It was great entertainment when a little one got feisty. :)
