A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Annie the super Nanny! 👋

I'm a Chicago-based nanny with six years of full-time, live-in experience caring for kids from newborns to teenagers, including a household of six kids at once. I've handled everything from colicky newborn evenings and sleep routines to school runs, homework, sports, and rehearsals.

I also love keeping the whole household running smoothly: driving, scheduling appointments, grocery runs, errands, laundry, and keeping the kids' spaces organized.

I'm a trained chef, so your kids get healthy meals they'll actually eat, and I'm a strong swimmer who has taught kids to swim and ride bikes. I'm also a native German speaker from Austria, so if you'd love a second language at home, we can weave it in through songs, books, and games.

I believe kids thrive on warmth, consistency, and clear boundaries, and parents thrive on open communication. You'll always know how the day went. I'd love to meet your family! 💛

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

River North, Chicago (2 years): a newborn with colic plus two girls, ages 3 and 6. Newborn care, sleep routines, preschool and school runs, playdates, pediatric appointments, meals, and household support.

Highland Park, IL (3.5 years): six kids, ages 5 to 16. School runs, homework, sports and rehearsals, driving to every activity, family meals, and household management. I also taught the kids to swim and ride bikes.

San Francisco, CA (6 months): three girls, ages 8, 10, and 12. School routines, homework help, outings, and meal prep.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

getting outside every day! Park adventures, nature walks and scavenger hunts, bike and scooter rides, sidewalk chalk, puddle jumping, and swimming (I'm a strong swimmer and love teaching water confidence).

For the little ones, I love age-appropriate sensory play: sensory bins with rice for older toddlers, homemade play-dough, water and bubble play, music and movement, and messy art like finger painting. It's great for development, fine motor skills, and burning off energy.

I'm also a trained chef, so we cook and bake together (pancake faces, homemade pizza, and sneaky veggie snacks), and I bring plenty of arts and crafts, reading, fort building, and dance parties. If your family would like, I can weave in German through songs, books, and silly games.

I keep screen time low, always supervise closely, and follow each child's interests and developmental stage. If they're obsessed with dinosaurs this month, everything becomes dinosaurs! 🦕

The most important part about being a nanny...

Trust. Parents are handing me the most important people in their lives, so I take that seriously every single day. To me, that means keeping the kids safe, staying consistent with the family's rules and values, and always being honest and open about how the day went, the good moments and the hard ones.

And within that safe, steady space, kids get to just be kids: play, explore, make messes, and feel truly loved. When a child feels secure and the parents feel at peace leaving, I know I'm doing my job right.

My experience with special needs children...

I haven't had a formal role caring for children with special needs

The most important part about being a nanny...

was teaching one of the kids in my Highland Park family to ride a bike. We practiced for weeks in the driveway, lots of wobbles, a few tears, and a lot of 'don't let go!' Then one afternoon I let go without telling her, and she rode all the way down the street on his own. She turned around with the biggest grin, yelling 'I did it!' Watching a kid realize they can do something they were scared of is the best part of this job
