I lived with my little cousin who is now 12 for the past 6 years (until I moved this last spring). I cooked her meals, bathed her, helped her with schoolwork, supervised playdates, got her ready for school/sports practice, kept her up on her chores etc. I was more of a co-parent than anything.

Seeing a child's eyes light up when they realize they are capable of doing something they've never done before.. and of course when a child hugs you or cuddles up to you without being prompted.
