A little bit about me

I’m older with years of experience. I’m a Nanny/Tutor . I’m Covid vaccinated, I’m certified CPR/first aide. I’m widowed, my daughters are grown. I don’t have grandchildren, so I give my full attention to the children I care for. I’m an currently working as a full time Nanny. However my charge will be starting kindergarten in September, she’ll get out of school at 1:30.
I will be free to offer my services mornings until 1:00 pm. I have letters of recommendation.
All my former families are very happy with my results. My current little one already knows most of the Presidents, along with some information on some of them. She knows her alphabet, her numbers, shapes, colors, planets, continents. We’re working on the States of the US. I’m worth every cent. My kids love me they and their families stay in contact with me. I believe in creating loving memories by making teaching fun.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I was younger I did work as a teacher’s assistant. My primary experience is from being a mother and previous nanny jobs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, trips to Library, the park, local museums when possible. Singing, playing learning games including learning games on line.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me it’s about helping the child to learn and feel safe and cared for. Creating good memories.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve cared for two little boys from two different families with autism. I have to say it’s a little harder. One child didn’t like to be touched, he never looked me in the eye. We played a lot of legos. Very short attention span.
The other child loved to be touched, he liked his back scratched. When he took a nap I had to sit by his side and play with his hair. His interest were his pets. When I read to him he would play with his pets, but he paid attention, because he would ask me questions from time to time.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many. One that stands out happened when reading a favorite book to a six month old baby for a couple of months. I had to clear my throat before I got to the word “tree” the baby said “T”. I learned that she was paying attention and memorizing what I was reading. We got to the point where I would let her finish the last word of each line. By the time she was two she had memorized over ten books. They are simple rhyming books, but it’s a good way to introduce sight words. That first book was
“The Spooky Old Tree”.
