I just started taking up the role of a nanny, however I have plenty of experience of caring for children as the oldest of my siblings, I take care of them a lot. I have been caring for my nine year old brother since he was born, I am nine years older them and though I am only 18 I feel like his mother since our mom is always working. Since staying with our grandma, who can watch over him while I'm away, I've decided to take up being a nanny.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am really good a card games, I know lots of games to play. I'm also keen on my little brothers doing their homework, so doing homework is something to do. I am good at teaching so they can have fun while studying. I am a crafty and artsy person and own lots of different paints, we can paint out on the drive way or in the back yard. I try to avoid going outdoors when with someone else's child, however if we do go outside to do some activities, we can get ice cream if allowed, or go to the park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think when taking care of someone else's child, it's important to have good communication with the parents. I wouldn't want to hire someone to take care of my child and not talk to me first before taking them out to go the park. Just little things I like to tell their parent before I do anything that might be boundary-crossing. And another important thing is being loving and responsible, it's important for children to feel safe when their with someone they barely know.
