A little bit about me

My name is Asha Adams! I was born in Japan but raised in Georgia. I’m currently in school to become a 1st grade teacher and prior to that I worked at CHOA as a phlebotomist but due to the work schedule and wanting to spend more time with my children I had to hold off for awhile. I love everything about being a nanny and being able to witness a child's growth right in front of my eyes. Just a little bit about myself I'm 25 years old with a 3 year old daughter named Alani and a 6 year old son named Frankie. I am the oldest of five siblings which is also part of the reason I’ve always grown up loving children as much as I do. I love nature, going to the gym, coloring, and crocheting. If there is anything I’m able to do better than ever, it’s definitely being a mom and helping other families who may need help as well. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My junior/senior year of high school i was a student aide for a special needs class which i helped assist the teachers with teaching the class, walking the kids to their daily activities, creating a lesson plan, and helped create activities in the class for the children. In 2017, my auntie opened her daycare business which at the time she ran in the basement of her home. Once I graduated she offered me a job to take over and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I lost my auntie in 2021 due to covid. Lastly, outside of going to school to become a teacher. I’m also a phlebotomist. I worked at Emory for a year and a half before giving birth to my daughter and spent the rest of my time at Children Hospital of Atlanta. All of my patients called me “work mom” because of the relationship I had with every single one of them. I treated them like they were my own. I admire being a role model for any child, it truly brings happiness to my heart.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing hands on learning activities(painting, coloring, matching games,etc.) taking a walk outside, going to the park, finding a museum nearby, attending read alongs at a local library

The most important part about being a nanny...

My all-time favorite nanny moment was when i was nannying for a family who had a 2 year old son named Xavier. His parents had trouble getting him to let go of his pacifier so I took it amongst myself to go home and learn ways of how I could get him to not want it. (This was also before I had kids of my own). Of course the process wasn’t easy at first but after not offering the pacifier as much, not clipping it to his onesie, finding ways to distract him from asking for it. Most importantly staying patient! After 3 weeks and 2 days he finally let go of his "binky" after we tied it to a balloon and let him say goodbye. It was a very exciting moment for me knowing i accomplished a goal not only for myself but the parents as well.
