A little bit about me

Hello, hello! I’m Ashley, I’m 24 and I’m an aspiring pediatrician with a degree in biology. The road to getting my MD has been long but working in childcare has been a powerful constant in my life. Starting my journey in the summer of 2020, I have gained a multitude of experience with children of all ages. My specialty is newborn and infant care. I work closely with first time parents to ease their mind as they navigate the early life of their new addition and welcome a caregiver into their home for the first time. I have extensive knowledge of infant milestones and experience with sleep training, bottle feeding, the transition to solid foods, and the development of motor skills. Furthermore, I have nearly 2 years of implementing daily exercise under guidance of physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapists. I am CPR/First Aid certified with extensive knowledge of pediatric medical emergencies. I look forward to hearing from you!

The most important part about being a nanny...

It’s not just a job. When I tell people that I’m a nanny, I don’t speak about it like it’s a job. I speak of the parents and their children with pride and joy. I take the time to get to know them, to build comfort and trust and inside jokes. Children are their parents’ most prized possession and they must be treated as such. It’s not just a job, it’s a connection and a bond. It’s signing on to a team and doing your very best to help whenever and wherever possible.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have so many and they all come to mind! I would say as a nanny, for any age, there’s always a point where the children completely recognize me as a safe space. It takes some time, but it’s worth it. Whether they get really excited when I arrive or run to me when they’re upset, I know that they trust me and that’s really what it’s all about!
