A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Ashley.

I am a dependable and caring childcare provider and a graduate student studying to become an elementary school teacher at the University of Montana. I have experience working with children from preschool through fifth grade and I love creating fun and engaging activities that help kids feel confident and supported in their learning. I am also a big fan of social and emotional learning.

In my free time I enjoy hiking and running, spending time outdoors, gardening, crafting, and being around animals. I also love sharing these interests with the kids that I work with whenever I can!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have several years of experience working with children from infancy through middle school in both childcare and educational settings. I currently work with Missoula Parks and Recreation and I previously provided care through The Associated Students of the University of Montana Child Care, where I supported young children’s emotional development, play, and daily routines. I’ve also worked as a seasonal naturalist with Montana Natural History Center, leading outdoor learning experiences for kids. Across these roles, I focus on creating a safe, compassionate positive environment where children can learn, explore, and build confidence.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love spending time outside with kids, especially going on nature walks, exploring, and playing games that get everyone moving and curious about the world. I also enjoy crafting, reading stories together, and creating imaginative games that let kids be creative and have fun. When I’m with children, I really enjoy leaning into that playful energy and “awakening my inner child.” I try to keep activities hands-on and engaging, and I prefer to avoid screens so kids can play, imagine, and connect with the world around them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that compassion, empathy, and imagination are at the heart of being a nurturing and supportive nanny. I love encouraging creativity through crafts, games, and storytelling, and I also value spending time in nature, helping children explore and connect with the world around them. For me, fostering these qualities not only makes activities fun, but also helps children develop confidence, kindness, and curiosity.

My experience with special needs children...

While I don’t have extensive experience working with children with special needs yet, I am very open and eager to learn. As someone studying education and working regularly with children, I care deeply about meeting each child where they are and supporting their individual needs. I am patient, adaptable, and happy to learn from parents or caregivers so I can provide the best possible support.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Before moving to Montana for college, I had the wonderful opportunity to babysit our family friends’ children, Camdyn, Lilly, and Mali, ages 5–10, and we had so much fun coming up with creative activities together. One of my favorite memories was helping them host a lemonade stand to raise money for a clubhouse. It was a great experience in teamwork, planning, and encouraging their creativity. I loved supporting them and seeing their ideas come to life while having fun and making a positive impact.
