A little bit about me

My name is Autumn and I've been a preschool teacher in classrooms with ~15 3-5 year olds for around 8 years now, and before that I worked in a before and afterschool program for K-5 children. I'm interested in transitioning to a nannying position as a way to stay safer during the pandemic.

I play piano and the ukulele and have enough fluency in Spanish and French to read children's books and teach basic phrases. I also have a background in theatrical design and love to teach children artistic techniques grounded in the idea that everyone is an artist. My educational philosophy is rooted in constructivism - the idea that kids learn best from first hand experience of materials and situations. I love to take children on walks around the neighborhood to learn more about nearby plants and animals, prepare our own meals together, garden as a way to talk about life cycles, and connect with the people around us to learn about the wide diversity of ways to live!
