A little bit about me

Hello! I’m a passionate southern woman who adores children. I was raised to believe children are the closest we will get to God until he comes back because they are made entirely in His image. I’m a volunteer Sunday school teacher, and Children’s Ministry Starting Point Instructor with my church community. It’s probably my favorite thing to do in my free time honestly. I have an allergy to cats sadly and of all things horses (which has never stopped me from petting either of them HA HA) I totally prefer fruits over candies. Most would describe me as a mango or coconut if asked what fruit I’d be. However, I find the strawberry to be extremely interesting. They are the only fruit with their seed on the outside of its flesh. How crazy! I love sea life. If I could be any sea creature for the day I think maybe a whale would be the best. I mean think about how much of the world you could see in just one day!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Rockfish Church, Hoke County

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Learning how to yell and whisper colors of indoor objects has allowed my Sunday school students to learn the levels of their voice along with communication skills. Out door things like looking at picture books then going outside and pointing out the things from our books we have learned is a great skill for young minds. They learn to communicate things they see, and it provides great motor skills to run and walk while searching for things learning to expand your memory.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Listening. It’s difficult to feel heard sometimes. Jesus says we should listen to children and never hinder them. I will never put a child off without hearing what they have to say. When a child communicates with you it is an honor. Children are extremely brave and should never be made to feel as less.

My experience with special needs children...

I won’t lie I don’t have much at all. I’ve done a ton of research through school but thats not the same and I realize that. However I would love to learn! I have two beautiful Sunday school students I’ve taught with and they are special needs. I’ve also worked with a beautiful little girl who was a bit of a “mute” as some put it however I refuse to. I believe she is only shy. She came to me for comfort and allowed herself to speak with me. She was very bright as well but extremely nervous, and that alright.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I got my first hug from a child as an educator. When we hug our hearts are face to face. It’s an indescribable feeling to know that a child who has no idea of the evil in this world trusts you enough to communicate their emotions they are freshly experiencing. Even something as “simple” as a hug from a child says a thousand words. It shows are brave they are. We have already experienced and established most of our emotions so when a child goes through it for their first time and uses you as a way to do it it’s an honor.
