A little bit about me

As a child of an educator, I realized the importance of education early on. I began my teaching career in Asheville, North Carolina. There I wrote a thesis linking art to early literacy. During my research, I found how I could use my knowledge to reach children who might not be innately drawn to art and help access where the child was developmentally through their art. It was a fascinating and rewarding process.

Since then I have been researching and learning different teaching styles and practices. Some of the education philosophies I bring are influenced by my study of Montessori, Regio, Constructivism, Conscious Discipline, Non-Violent Communication and Emergent Curriculum. I’m always open and willing to discuss education philosophy!. Nature is an important part of my teaching style. The students and I have raised Monarch butterflies and chickens and created a Saturday Market with the eggs, vegetables and seeds we grew and sowed. Feel free to join us in the garden!
