I am a youth leader at my local church and while I am not certified if CPR and First Aid anymore I was in Corrections for six years. During this time I had rigorous training in both areas. My kids are my world, so, I know how important it is to pick the right person. My oldest is on the spectrum so I do have experience with special needs children. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a youth leader for the First United Methodist Church in Eunice,NM. I teach grades 6-8. I also have volunteered at my children's school and taught reading there. I was a nanny to two girls that turned into a fostering situation for the better part of a year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities that I do with kids are reading them, doing homework with them, painting, drawing, ballet, building huge pillow forts (within reason), singing, and just generally having a good time with them. Anytime can be a time for learning and fun non of these things have to be alien from each other.
Outside activities include fishing, gardening, chalk art, water balloon fights, going to the park, swimming, biking, or going on walks.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a Nanny is maintaining the safety, care, mental health and overall well being of the children that you are charged with looking after...and never forget to have fun in the process. Remember that every thing can become a teachable moment to child. Grace and patience are what get us through a lot of rough days.

My experience with special needs children...

My oldest son has Autism and I have had more than two years experience with signing and using ASL as he was non verbal for four years. I have had plenty of hands on experience with special situations requiring patience, stamina and strength. I am well versed in sensory issues and can completely adjust to any needs that your child may have.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite Nanny moment was watching one of the boys that I used to Nanny for graduate. I was 18 when I first started being his and his brothers Nanny. I got to see there prom pictures and their graduation pictures and know that they still remember me. That I helped them on that road a little. It was amazing.
