Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked afterschool through Youth Quest in Flint schools from 2022 to 2023. While working mostly with second graders I have experience with kids aged 4-17. We would work on homework and do educational activities as well as lots of play time outside and using imaginations. I currently work as a Camp Counselor and a Camp Program Educator through Camp Hawthorn Hallow, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (3 years). I work on outdoor skills, independence and help to build scouts with courage, confidence, and character.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love working on homework and problem solving with them! I do lots of outdoor skills so I love going on small walks/hikes and allowing lots of time to enjoy the outdoors. I also love doing arts and crafts and would love to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and support independence.
My experience with special needs children...
My brother is on the autism spectrum and I've been around people on the spectrum my whole life. I have some experience in working with them through camp and school settings but no formal training.
