I graduated late because I decided to watch my siblings who are now twenty two, nineteen, eleven, nine, seven, and four. Also, I sat for a friend before, her kids were great but they moved from PA to PR.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I prefer indoor activities, or playing outside in a fenced in yard for safety. Although it's okay for kids to have screens, I feel like having screen-free hands on learning is the best way to spend the day!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is connection. Making the kids feel like they can trust you, watching them grow up. Being there for mom when she's going through some post partum depression or being there for dad to talk to when he just can't understand what his kid is banging a cup on the counter and incoherently screaming about the color of it in Toddler Language. Going to events with my partner, and the parents, and the kids and making memories.
My experience with special needs children...
I've cared for children with autism, ADHD, and depression. I'm also autistic myself.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the kids I used to nanny for walked up to me while I was talking to his mom, hugged me, coughed on me, then placed a soggy cookie on my leg and walked away. Definitely sums up that moment.
