A little bit about me

I am a substitute teacher in the New Pal school system and a part-time college professor. I worked for an Early Head Start Center in Indianapolis until crime in the area was too high. I very much enjoyed my children who are now grown. I enjoy interacting with little ones; playing games, coloring, painting, practicing letters in shaving cream, reading books, playing with sand (kintetic), water and bubbles. I love nature and teaching children about observing and respecting all living creatures. I very much enjoy all ages which I know from being in pre-K up through the junior high on a regular basis. From my work experience, having one or two children to enjoy is delightful. I would very much enjoy interacting with your child(ren) and making their day brighter. I am also happy to be helpful with cleaning chores around the house. I am dependable, trustworthy and have references affirming my love for children and teaching.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have taught from ages 0 to college. I had the privilege of working for East 10th Street Child Center which is an Early Head Start Center in Indianapolis. I am current on all EHS and state safety training. I also work as a substitute teacher in the New Palestine School District. I taught for Shelby Eastern Schools and also enjoyed their children.

Personally, I raised 3 terrific children who are now adults living in the Pacific Northwest.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, playing catch, playing pretend, coloring, painting, learning about nature, doing activities downloaded from websites.

I like to give children my full attention and enjoy the world from their perspective.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For the child, being a safe, loving, and interesting adult is critical. The child should know I am interested in him/her and what they would like to do.

For the family, the nanny must be trustworthy and caring so the family knows their child and their home will be carefully taken care of.

My experience with special needs children...

I have subbed in the Essential Skills classroom in the Southern Hancock district. I enjoy doing with the student the activity that they enjoy. We read books, do simple math, play games on the Wii, share ice cream, color, do simple puzzles and engage in activities they can do.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have largely been in a larger group setting. I have enjoyed when a child sits with me to read a book or tell me something that is on their heart. I have also enjoyed looking with them at pictures of their family as they tell me about each member.
