Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depending on the weather/ age and if it permits there are many activities I enjoy teaching. I focus a lot on team building board games / activities to help develop social skills. I enjoy encouraging being active and being in nature whether it be a home or relaxing in a park for a picnic. A lot of the activities are based around my individuals likes/ dislikes so to give a better idea, let me get to know you!
My experience with special needs children...
I currently support 3 adult individuals with intellectual disabilities, each with very different levels of needs. I have worked in a group home for 3 years and supervised 2 of the homes after working my way up from a direct care professional in my first year. Prior to working in a direct care home I offered services at a day program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Being kind, dedicated, creative and empathetic has helped me navigate my way through this field and acknowledge this is something I enjoy wholeheartedly.
