A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Brissa, but I go by Brie. Im currently still in school at Potomac Falls High School, I’m a 16 year old sophomore. I’m hispanic and I was raised with a big family therefore I was surrounded by kids all types of ages growing up. At age 10 I started to babysit my four little cousins all 4 were between the ages of 1-8 years old. Once the oldest turned 12 my aunt started having her watch over her younger siblings instead of me, so I started babysitting my moms friends kids after school and on weekends all while having a part time job at my local Cava but, I have recently made the decision to leave. I love kids of all ages and I am very pet friendly, I have a dog myself. I’m learning how to drive and soon will have my license but transportation will never be an issue my parents are very flexible and reliable. I don’t smoke or drink. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered multiple times at my local elementary school for book fairs and I’d read books to kids, my school also hosted a trunk or treat where kids come to our school parking lot in costume on Halloween and we hand out candy, and I did participate in that as well. My parents are Peruvian born and raised and when I last visited me and my sisters donated a bunch of clothes that no longer fit us to people who need it most, we went to a homeless shelter and got the privilege to hand them out to the most sweetest children ever and it was definitely a very emotional experience that i will never forget.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am a huge sports person, growing up I loved playing soccer and I also was a competitive dancer for 4 years. I love playing outdoors and even indoors watching movies, playing video games, playing borad games, etc. I also can help with homework, I do very well in school.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a nanny is truly a rewarding job. You get to watch a child grow in real-time and you get to teach them all types of new things and you get to celebrate every mile stone along side them. Although I am young I’ve always had a love for kids and I do plan on having my own in the future when the time is right.

My experience with special needs children...

I grew up with a cousin that has autism, his name is Diego he is truly the sweetest person ever. He moved to Peru with my aunt 2 years ago but before that I used to babysit him often. Diego would struggle a lot with school and would constantly get bullied, but despite all the hate he got he always kept a smile on his face, I loved helping him with his homework and teaching him a bunch of learning strategies.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have a lot of favorite moments with the kids I’ve watched, but one that has stuck with me for a while was when I was helping one of the kids I babysat with their homework, and they included me in their family tree. I remember getting really emotional considering that it was my last day watching him because the family was moving to South Carolina. I wish I still had the moms number to contact the family but when I got a new phone I got a new number and lost all my contacts, but that was truly one of my favorite moments, and I will never forget that.
