In addition to my decade of experience with a growing family, I did 100 hours of volunteer work at a daycare. I have also worked with many other families over time and have cared for a child who has seizures and have the skill set to assist efficiently. I pick up very quickly with routines!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
My favorite activities are parks, age appropriate crafts, painting, music, I know and love to teach sign language, anything creative, positive, and educational really!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Teaching is learning. Children teach us just as much as we teach them and the growth that comes from that is so important. There are many extremely important parts of being a nanny, balance, time management, patience, multitasking, responsibility, the ability to listen and understand. But it's all for growth of the child.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with a 4 year old with autism and an under developed brain who is prone to seizures. I can transport to and from therapy, and use all the skills I have cultivated to make them comfortable around me and learn from them about what they need and how to assist.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Where to even begin! One of my proudest moments is when the extremely intelligent, perfectionist 6 year old wanted to throw away his art because he messed up I told him "mess it up, dress it up!" Offering the perspective that mistakes present opportunities, cut to two years later, he's embraced it in so many aspects of his life and now makes art to sell and repeats the phrase often!
