More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been caring for children since I was 13, when I got my first babysitting job, caring for my infant niece. I did this, and date nights for parents throughout my teen years, as many teenagers do. I spent time in the Navy before re-entering the childcare space. I have cared for children of every age, from newborns to middle schoolers, including multiple children at once. I have provided consecutive care for a 10-month-old and a two-year-old for a week. Infants and toddlers are my favorite age to care for, and this is where most of my experience lies.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

My favorite activities with children are reading books, visiting the library, coloring, encouraging imaginative play, going for walks or to the park, and anything that involves water and the sun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important aspect of being a nanny is building a trusting and communicative relationship with both parents and the children. I value open communication and mutual respect above all.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have much experience with special needs children, but in high school, I attended the "alternative P.E. class" that was integrated with our special needs students to help them socialize with people outside of their class. My lack of experience does not equate to a lack of compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn about their specific needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Multiple memories arise when reflecting on my most cherished memories with children, but my most cherished memories came from the first family I ever worked for. I loved their children, but they moved out of state. The older boy, five years old, asked when I would be moving in with them. It made my heart swell with emotion; knowing he wanted me to go with him was heartwarming, but grappling with the loss of being involved in these children's daily lives was hard. Finding a way to navigate that conversation so he could understand it was a challenge. Lots of tears and hugs were involved, but it made me realize the value a nanny can bring into both the parents' and children's lives.

I cherish every contact nap, every tiny finger that has ever wrapped around mine, every tiny hug around my neck seeking comfort after a big emotion, and every "thank you" from a parent when they come home knowing their child has been safe and loved while they were gone.
