More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 3 years experience working as an associate teacher at Columbus Pre-School, a school based on the Reggio Emilia model, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I worked for two years with a 2's and 3's class, and one year with Pre-K.
I have been a long term nanny for two families, both with one boy, whom I worked with from when each was 4 months until they were 2. I have babysat numerous families with children ranging from infants to teens.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Coming from a Reggio Emilia approach, I greatly enjoy play based and imaginative activities based on each child's unique interests. I am happy to devise arts activities and activities exploring outside. I love reading to and with children, and can provide tutoring as needed.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked for a year with a 12 year old boy with severe behavioral special needs. It took a few weeks to gain his trust, and it was rewarding to gradually be invited into his interests and suggest activities that made him excited. I have had recurring occasional positions with several children of different ages and on different levels of the autism spectrum. I always strive to gain children's trust and work and play with them at their levels.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I truly love when children I have previously worked with remember me and are excited to see me. One moment that absolutely made my week was when the mother of a child I taught in Pre-K contacted me a decade later to say that her now high school aged son remembered me as the first teacher who made him happy to go to school. More recently, I ran into a family I worked with several years ago, and their now teenage daughter was clearly thrilled to talk to me "as an adult." These moments make the job incredibly worthwhile to me. I remember teachers and babysitters who made an impact on me when I was a child, and it means so much to be able to be that person to others.

Full-Time Nanny Available in New Orleans, LA: Phoenix M.
Hi! I am Phoenix Marshall, and I graduated from LSU in May with an English degree. My parents had me when they were relatively young, so I was always around younger children by the time all their friends and siblings started having kids. I have always loved children and been great with those younger than me, even as a child myself. I am at no point in my life where I can have a child, but there is nothing like the joy brought to our lives by children. I would love to help a great, loving family in their childcare needs. It takes a village and the connections we make along the way will stay with us forever. I would love the opportunity to contribute the lives of children and aid in their development and care.
