A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Cailyn and I am 26 years old. I have babysat since I was 12 and I have extensive experience (10+ years) with special needs children, including ASD, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsies, encephalopathies, orthopedic impairments, spinal bifida, and global developmental delays, as well as with seizures, medication administration, g-tube feedings (and replacements), and oral and trach suctioning. I currently work at an elementary school with medically fragile students. I have experience with children ages newborn-14+. I also have a BS in Psychology, a Minor in Neuroscience, and a Child Development Associate. I am considering getting an MS in Child Life or Child Development as well. :)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My junior and senior years of high school I spent working half the day in a special needs preschool. After school, I would work in a 3s and 4s room at a Montessori. After high school, I was the lead teacher in a 2s room, the lead 6th grade summer school teacher, and an assistant site coordinator for an elementary after school program. I have coached gymnastics for ages 18 months-6 years and I coached the Tiny and Mini (ages 2-8) teams for competitive cheerleading. I currently work at an elementary school as an aide in a medically fragile classroom and I have 5 years of ABA experience, including as a trainer for new hires.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

making crafts, going outside on walks, to the park, etc., dance parties, teaching self-help and life skills!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a bonus mom/big sister to the kiddos! I know as a nanny I play a huge role in raising the kids to be kind, helpful, and self-sufficient, and that isn't something I ever take lightly!

My experience with special needs children...

I have 10 years of experience working with children on the Autism spectrum, Down syndrome, Cerebral palsies, muscular dystrophy, multiple disabilities, epilepsies, global developmental delays, orthopedic impairments, and other behavioral/emotional problems.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most (and least) favorite moment was right before I moved to California, I stopped at my nanny family's house to say goodbye, and the kids (and their mom) all started crying because I was leaving. It meant so much to me to know they really do love me as much as I have loved them for the past 4 years!
